Maleta Rosevear, affectionately known as Milly, was tragically killed in her home in Illogan on January 10, 2025. Her former lover, Adrian Lawrence, drugged her with codeine before brutally attacking her with the handle of a pickaxe as she slept.
Lawrence, who had a brief teenage romance with Rosevear decades prior, rekindled their relationship in October 2024. However, his behaviour became controlling and jealous, leading Rosevear to ask him to leave. Financial difficulties and jealousy over her grandchildren reportedly motivated his violent actions.
Following the attack, Lawrence confessed to his estranged wife and subsequently died by suicide by jumping from a bridge on the A30 near Redruth. Senior coroner Andrew Cox ruled Rosevear's death an unlawful killing due to blunt force head injuries.
