Fake STF Cops Kidnap Trader, Extort Rs 2 Lakh

In Gonda district, a trader was allegedly abducted by individuals posing as Special Task Force (STF) sleuths. The incident, which came to light on Friday, involved the victim being held captive for approximately 24 hours. The perpetrators demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh, eventually accepting Rs 2 lakh before releasing the trader.
The victim, Ankit Kumar Yadav from Pahli village, reported being intercepted in his village on Tuesday. He was forced into a black SUV, and two more men joined the group en route. They claimed to be STF officers and threatened him with firearms. After arranging Rs 2 lakh through an acquaintance, Yadav was eventually released near Maskanwa Gaushala, and the accused fled.
Police have registered an FIR against five individuals based on the complaint filed by Yadav's wife. The victim underwent a medical examination and has been reunited with his family. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
