Golfer Arrested After Alleged Attempt to Run Down Strangers and Their Pet

On April 20th of this year, a 50-year-old golf instructor named Darren Peter Golsby was arrested after allegedly attempting to ram a couple and their dog with his car in Riverine Park in Arncliffe, Sydney. According to court documents, the incident began with an argument between Golsby and the male pedestrian over the golfer's driving.

Golsby is said to have then chased the couple and their staffie dog through the park for around 20 minutes, driving towards them multiple times and forcing them to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. Fortunately, the couple was unharmed, though their dog did sustain a minor injury.

Golsby has since pleaded guilty to two charges - negligent driving and recklessly damaging the park's sporting field grass. However, he plans to fight five other charges, including stalking, intimidation, and being armed with intent to commit a crime. He is currently banned from entering the Riverine Park or being within 150 meters of it as part of his bail conditions.

Prior to the incident, Golsby had worked as a golf instructor at the Barton Park Golf Range, located within Riverine Park, though he was not a formal employee. He is described online as an "entrepreneur" with over 25 years of experience in the golf industry.
