27 Feb
Summary
- Twelve golf greens were vandalized overnight at Royal Eastbourne Golf Club.
- The damage, described as significant and senseless, will take weeks to repair.
- Sussex Police are investigating the deliberate act, with no CCTV evidence.

Royal Eastbourne Golf Club experienced overnight vandalism, resulting in 12 damaged greens. The incident forced a temporary closure of the club on Friday for assessment and repairs. Six greens on the 100-year-old Devonshire course and six on the nine-hole Hartington course were defaced.
General manager Tom Breach described the damage as significant and senseless. The culprits used shovels to dig up large sections of turf, making immediate repairs impossible. The act is believed to have been deliberate, requiring considerable time and effort.
Repairing the affected greens is estimated to take several weeks before they are playable again. The incident has been reported to Sussex Police, who are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. No suspects were captured on the club's CCTV cameras.
