On November 2nd, 2025, the crime branch of Goa police busted an alleged interstate liquor smuggling racket and arrested four persons in connection with it. The crime branch also seized items worth Rs 1.5 crore as part of the operation.
According to the police, the crime branch received information that the illicit liquor smuggling racket was being operated from Ponda, Goa. During the raid, the authorities seized 148 boxes of spurious/adulterated liquor that had 'Royal Blue malt whiskey' labels, containing a total of 5,920 bottles of 180ml each. They also seized 510 boxes of bottles labeled as 'Evergreen Reserve whiskey', with 6,120 bottles of 750ml each.
The police arrested four individuals - Govind Rajput, Mukesh Adiwasi, Prakash Meena from Rajasthan, and Mahendra Rajput from Gujarat - in connection with the racket. Authorities believe these individuals were workers involved in the operation and are now trying to identify the main person behind the smuggling activities.

The seizure of a large number of counterfeit liquor bottles and the arrest of the suspects have dealt a significant blow to the interstate liquor smuggling racket operating in the region.
