Glen Davis Claims NBA Justice Was Selective

Glen Davis, a former Boston Celtics player, has completed a 17-month prison sentence for his role in defrauding the NBA's healthcare fund. Currently on probation, Davis continues to proclaim his innocence and asserts that the justice system was selective in prosecuting those involved.

Davis alleges that numerous prominent former players, many now active in media, also engaged in illegal claims but escaped prosecution. He specifically named individuals like Matt Barnes, Stephen Jackson, Gilbert Arenas, and Corey Maggette as having been investigated. The scheme, masterminded by Terrence Williams, involved fraudulent medical and dental claims totaling over $4 million.

Out of 18 individuals charged in 2021, including a doctor, dentist, and chiropractor, only five served prison time. Davis received a 40-month sentence, serving the second-longest term after Williams' 10 years. He argues that others involved, like Tony Allen who pleaded guilty and repaid funds, received probation instead of jail time.

Interestingly, Davis and Will Bynum were the only two who pleaded not guilty and went to trial, both ultimately losing their cases and being incarcerated. They could have avoided jail by pleading guilty. Meanwhile, figures like Gilbert Arenas have publicly denied Davis's claims.
