A 53-year-old man, William Feely, has been sentenced to at least 19 years in prison for the murder of Michael Lincoln. Feely violently stabbed Mr. Lincoln to the heart while the victim slept in his bed in Glasgow on June 4, 2024. The victim later died from his injuries. The court heard Feely was angered by a comment made by his wife, prompting him to arm himself with a knife and confront Mr. Lincoln.
During sentencing at the High Court in Glasgow, Lady Haldane characterized the act as a "violent and murderous attack perpetrated under the cover of darkness." She highlighted the distressing fact that the victim's elderly, bedbound father was present in the home during the assault. Feely, who had denied murder, was convicted by a jury. He has an extensive criminal record, primarily for dishonesty offenses.
Lady Haldane emphasized that no motive could justify the attack's ferocity. The impact on Mr. Lincoln's family has been profound, with his father unable to continue living in his home. The judge acknowledged the "unbearable pain and loss" suffered by the victim's relatives. Authorities hope the sentence brings some measure of closure to the grieving family after this shocking loss of life.
