Summary
- Suspect used burner phones and fake names with sex workers.
- He searched for violent pornography and victim-related content.
- DNA from a pizza box matched remains of a victim.

Rex Heuermann, the man accused in the Gilgo Beach serial killings, is alleged by prosecutors to have been a 'sexual sadist' who employed burner phones and aliases to contact sex workers. This behavior, which allegedly occurred over 500 times, included using fake names like 'Andrew Roberts' and 'Thomas Hawk' to reach out to at least 56 sex workers and numerous massage parlors. Evidence presented by the Suffolk County district attorney's office also detailed thousands of pornography-related searches, alongside searches concerning the Gilgo Beach killings themselves.
Further incriminating internet activity allegedly included searches for violent pornography, bindings, torture, and images of victims' family members. Heuermann's arrest in July 2023 followed a ten-month surveillance period, with his DNA eventually matched to a pizza box discarded near his Manhattan office. This DNA was linked to the burlap sack concealing Megan Waterman's body. Heuermann, who has pleaded not guilty to seven murders, is scheduled to return to court on March 17, 2026.
