26 Sep
Summary
- Wife and daughter found dead in rented flat.
- Husband and his family booked for dowry harassment.
- Police have detained the husband for questioning.
In Ghaziabad's Khoda area, Preeti Singh, 30, and her three-year-old daughter were found dead in their rented Bharat Vihar flat on Friday evening. An FIR has been registered against Preeti's husband, Anirudh alias Sonu, his mother, Raj Rani, and sister, Rinki Singh. Preeti's family alleges that Anirudh and his relatives harassed her for dowry, demanding a car instead of the motorcycle received during their June 2021 marriage.
Anirudh, a lab technician, has been detained for questioning. Neighbors and his sister reported no significant public disputes between the couple prior to the incident. The discovery was made when Anirudh's niece, checking on Preeti, found the mother and child unresponsive through a window. The door was subsequently broken open by neighbors. Police are investigating all aspects, including potential extramarital affairs, and further action will depend on autopsy results and collected evidence.
