Ghaziabad Cops: 347 Gunfights, 11 Killed, Crime Down

Ghaziabad police have reported significant results since the implementation of the commissionerate system in December 2022. Over this period, 347 gunfights have occurred, leading to the elimination of 11 criminals, the injury of 399, and the arrest of 566. One high-profile encounter on September 20 resulted in the death of Balram, a key figure in the Anil Dujana gang, who was carrying a substantial bounty.

The intensified law enforcement efforts appear to be yielding positive results, with a 17% reduction in overall crime rates. Crimes specifically targeting women have seen a notable decrease of 27%. The Wave City ACP highlighted continuous action against offenders, further bolstered by the seizure of criminal properties valued at Rs 333.73 crores under the gangster act.

Data from January 1 to November 15 indicates a substantial decline in various crime categories. Burglaries dropped by 37%, vehicle thefts by 17%, and other thefts by 23%. Snatching cases decreased by 48%, and murders by 18%. While rape cases halved, and molestation and kidnapping incidents also reduced, there was an increase in dowry deaths and a static number of murders.
