Benjamin Lee Whitaker, 37, has been sentenced to life without parole for the murder of his wife, Tiffani Jade Scarborough, 25. The conviction stems from an incident in June 2021 when Scarborough, a nurse, was found shot to death in her Dublin, Georgia residence.
Investigators located Whitaker in a nearby county following a manhunt. During questioning, Whitaker admitted to shooting his wife, stating her "nagging" about his drinking had "set him off." The couple had married less than two months before the fatal incident.
Scarborough is remembered for her dedication to women's health and her love for her son. Her family established a Facebook page to raise awareness and funds for domestic violence and women's health causes. Whitaker was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault.
