A 37-year-old Georgia woman, Omayrilin Colon, is in custody following the death of her 2-month-old son, referred to as Baby Nova. Emergency services responded on October 14, 2025, to a call about an unresponsive infant. The baby was pronounced dead at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
An autopsy and toxicology screening revealed the infant had a blood-alcohol level of 0.179, indicating he had swallowed alcohol. Colon reportedly admitted to preparing the bottle but claimed it contained only formula.
Colon was arrested on January 29, 2026, and charged with murder and first-degree cruelty to children. If convicted of murder, she could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty. The cruelty to children charge carries a potential sentence of five to 20 years.
