Willie George Northern Jr. of Kathleen, Georgia, has been charged with murder and cruelty to children following the death of a 6-month-old boy. Deputies were dispatched to a home in Macon on the evening of January 4th, 2026, after Northern reported the infant, Myles Walker, was unresponsive. Northern stated he had fed and swaddled the baby before finding him face down and having difficulty breathing.
The infant was transported to a children's hospital where staff discovered he had sustained severe injuries, including multiple brain bleeds and a broken collarbone. Myles Walker later died from these injuries on January 6th, 2026. Northern was initially arrested on charges related to child cruelty and tampering with evidence before the murder charge was added.
Further investigation revealed that Northern was on house arrest at the time of the incident due to an alleged armed robbery in November 2024. He required judicial authorization to be at the home where the baby was in his care. Northern has pleaded not guilty to the previous armed robbery charges.
