Jerry Wayne Ross, 72, has been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbing hit-and-run incident that occurred on April 23 in Cherokee County, Georgia. The incident involved a group of cyclists from the North Georgia Cycling Association. Video evidence reportedly shows Ross's black Honda Pilot driving into the group of cyclists after allegedly honking excessively, an act described as suspected road rage.
One cyclist, Richard Collins, who was leading the group, sustained road rash and a fracture in his lower spine. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and later saw an orthopedist. Sheriff's officials apprehended Ross at a nearby residence. He now faces six charges, including hit-and-run and aggressive driving, emphasizing the need for drivers to allow safe passing distances for cyclists.
