27 Apr
Summary

- Dog died from starvation after having cloth-like material in its stomach.
- Investigation began after a welfare check prompted by a DFACS case manager.

A North Georgia couple, Andrew James Groncki and Megan Gibson, are facing significant charges stemming from the death of their dog. The Walker County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation on March 16 after a Department of Family and Children's Services case manager reported concerns about the dog's welfare during routine visits.
Upon visiting the couple's Rossville home, Gibson stated the dog had died after refusing to eat and exhibiting severe symptoms. Authorities later discovered the dog's remains in the backyard. A necropsy revealed the animal had been deceased for three to five days and died from starvation due to a blockage in its stomach.
