The trial of Robert Bush, a former funeral director, is scheduled to commence in Hull on October 5th. Bush is accused of preventing lawful and decent burials. The charges stem from a significant investigation launched in March 2024 after concerns were raised about the care of the deceased at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull.
During the investigation, Humberside Police removed 35 bodies and a quantity of ashes from the funeral home. Among the remains were those of four babies who had been lost during pregnancy. Bush, who previously resided in Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire, and now lives in West Yorkshire, denies 30 counts of preventing lawful and decent burials. He also faces a separate charge of stealing money from charity collection boxes.
