On 2025-10-20, police in Hyderabad apprehended a suspect named Riyaz, who had been on the run for nearly two days after allegedly stabbing a police constable. Riyaz, a habitual offender wanted in vehicle theft cases, managed to escape the police dragnet on Saturday night, even as officers fired warning shots.
However, Riyaz's luck ran out on Sunday afternoon when he was caught in Sarangapur. Minutes before his arrest, Riyaz had allegedly attacked another individual, Asif, with a knife. Police witnessed the altercation and quickly identified Riyaz as the wanted suspect. Both Asif and Riyaz sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The incident began on Friday night when Riyaz allegedly stabbed constable Pramod in the chest while being transported to the police station. Riyaz also injured sub-inspector Vittal Rao when he tried to intervene. After the attack, Riyaz managed to flee the scene and evade the police for nearly two days before being apprehended.
