- Thieves stabbed the victim while fleeing with the stolen coins.
- Fugitive Brown was found almost a year after his sentence.

A significant heist involving rare coins worth £500,000 has seen one of its perpetrators finally brought to justice. Clinton Brown, part of a four-person gang, was sentenced in absentia in February 2025 for his role in the crime. The group had deceived a coin dealer, burgled his home, and made off with the valuable collection.
During the burglary, the victim was stabbed in the leg when he attempted to stop the thieves from escaping with the stolen getaway car. Brown, from Twigworth in Gloucestershire, managed to evade capture for nearly a year after absconding on the penultimate day of his trial.
He was apprehended in Cheltenham on Sunday, appearing in court on Monday where his original seven-and-a-half-year sentence was confirmed, along with an additional two-month penalty for breaching bail. Police initially believed he had fled to Spain, but he was found at a local property.
