French Embassy Staffer Molested by Biker in Mumbai Suburb

On Saturday, a 27-year-old French embassy staffer was the victim of a molestation incident in the Khar suburb of Mumbai. The woman was out for an evening stroll on Shirley Rajan Road when a biker rode up close to her, touched her inappropriately, and quickly fled the scene.
The woman immediately approached the Khar police, who launched a swift investigation to identify and track down the culprit. Senior Police Inspector Sanjeev Dhumaal formed two teams that began scanning CCTV footage from the area and activating their informer network to trace the biker's movements.
The investigation led the police towards Dharavi, where information from local sources and CCTV evidence helped identify the suspect as 25-year-old Sunil Vishnu Waghela. Police detained Waghela on Sunday evening, less than 24 hours after the crime, and have booked him under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for outraging a woman's modesty. Waghela's motorcycle, allegedly used during the incident, has been seized and will be produced in court on Monday. The police are also checking whether Waghela has any past criminal record and will seek his custody for further investigation.
