A district court in Sultanpur has handed down life imprisonment sentences to four individuals for their involvement in the 2019 murder of a brick kiln owner. The court has also levied a fine of Rs 3.98 lakh upon the convicted, with a significant portion designated for the victim's family. This ruling brings a close to a case that began with a fatal confrontation.
The incident occurred on November 12, 2019, when the brick kiln owner, Vijay Kumar, along with his brother and cousin, was intercepted near a bank in Amethi's Gauriganj. An argument ensued regarding an old dispute and a demand for Rs 2 lakh as protection money, leading to the owner's death.
Subsequent police investigations revealed that Chandrashekhar Kesarwani fired the fatal shot, while his associates Shubham Tiwari, Golu alias Sandeep Jaiswal, and Kallu Mirchawala alias Suraj were complicit in the conspiracy and the extortion attempt. An additional district judge found all four guilty of murder, extortion, and related offenses, based on presented evidence and witness testimonies.
