Four men have been jailed for a total of over 90 years following an attempted murder in Wolverhampton during September 2024. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his back and required hospital treatment, but thankfully survived the incident.
Richard Beckles, Cleon Johnson, Constantine Campbell, and Khyle Gayle were convicted of attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. They received sentences of 30 years and 27 years respectively at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Investigations by West Midlands Police revealed the attack involved a deliberate chase and shooting on Minerva Street. The perpetrators attempted to cover their tracks by using multiple vehicles and staging pick-up points, but extensive phone evidence linked the four men together.
A fifth individual, Michael Soledolu, faced charges but was found not guilty. Detective Inspector Francis Nock emphasized the seriousness of firearm incidents in public spaces, stating such violence will not be tolerated.
