On November 12, 2025, it was reported that a former employee of a Northwell Health sleep clinic in Manhasset, New York has pleaded guilty to secretly recording patients and co-workers in the bathroom. Sanjai Syamaprasad, a Brooklyn father, admitted to installing hidden cameras disguised as smoke detectors in nine bathrooms at the Northwell Sleep Disorders and STARS Rehabilitation Center.
Prosecutors say Syamaprasad used Velcro dots to position the spy cameras and recorded over 300 videos of body parts of hundreds of victims, including a child. However, he was only charged for five victims due to the limitations of the evidence.
Despite the prosecutor's push for jail time, calling the case "victim after victim after victim," Syamaprasad is expected to be sentenced to probation and will have to register as a sex offender. Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly expressed her disappointment, stating the case "deserved jail time."
