The resident, who had a seizure disorder, died on December 2, 2021, after being without prescribed anti-seizure medication for over ten days. Gonzales failed to renew the resident's prescription or instruct staff to do so, a critical lapse in duty.
While Gonzales was found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office emphasized that the death was preventable. She was also ordered to pay $5,093 in restitution and is prohibited from working in personal care capacities.
