20 Feb
Summary
- Son allegedly fatally shot father during a garage argument.
- The dispute reportedly began over a disagreement about a dog.
- The son claimed he acted to protect his mother from harm.

A fatal shooting occurred on February 18 in Port St. Lucie, Florida, when Sheldon Morrison allegedly killed his father, Glen Morrison, following an argument in their family garage. The conflict reportedly centered on a disagreement about a dog. According to reports, Glen Morrison was agitated and banging containers, and approached his wife aggressively, though he did not touch her.
Sheldon Morrison then reportedly retrieved a gun from the house and shot his father. He fled the scene but was arrested hours later in Hollywood, Florida. Police Chief Leo Niemcyk expressed concern about Sheldon's state of mind, noting he had just killed his father and fled. Sheldon allegedly told his mother he acted because he thought his father would kill her.
Former State Attorney Dave Aronberg suggested that Sheldon might plead self-defense, citing the son's statement about protecting his mother. However, Aronberg also noted that this defense could be challenging, as Glen Morrison was unarmed and had no known history of violence, and Sheldon had to retrieve a weapon from inside the house.
