Mindy Osteen, 34, has been sentenced to a century in prison for the July 2025 murder of Christopher Travis Jones, the father of her two young sons. The fatal shooting occurred outside Auntie Lili's Child Care Center in Starke, Florida.
Jones was picking up their children when Osteen approached them. After a brief interaction, as Jones was putting the boys into the backseat and getting into the driver's seat, Osteen produced a firearm. She fired multiple shots into the vehicle, striking Jones.
Jones attempted to flee and seek refuge inside the daycare facility. He identified Osteen as his attacker to responding officers before being transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Osteen pleaded no contest to charges including second-degree murder and shooting into a vehicle.
