A manhunt is currently active in Leesburg, Florida, following a tragic incident where a man attempting to intervene in a dog attack fatally shot the animal's owner. The suspect, identified as Matthew Lee Pasco, is believed to still be armed with a handgun and fled the scene on foot.
Pasco allegedly intervened when a dog attacked a woman near a homeless camp area on Griffin Road. His attempt to shoot the aggressive animal was unsuccessful, striking the dog's owner instead. The victim was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The woman attacked by the dog is also receiving medical treatment.
Law enforcement has issued warnings for the public not to approach Pasco, describing him as 5 feet 11 inches tall with brown hair and eyes, and a noticeable facial scar. Carver Middle School was placed on lockdown during the search. Authorities are actively seeking information and urge anyone with sightings to contact them immediately.
