Man Rescued From Fire, Steals Rescuer's Boat

On March 6, a man identified as Ryan Dieter was rescued from a burning vessel near Marco Island, Florida. A Sea Tow captain provided assistance, bringing Dieter aboard his tow boat.
Allegedly, Dieter then pushed the captain overboard and commandeered the tow boat. The captain was left stranded while Dieter made his escape.
Dieter reportedly grounded the stolen vessel and fled on foot, eventually being discovered naked within a mangrove area by authorities. The Sea Tow captain was unharmed.
Dieter, 40, was apprehended on March 7 and charged with grand theft, resisting arrest, operating a vessel while impaired, and burglary involving assault or battery. His court date is set for March 30.
