An 84-year-old Florida man, William Nowak, is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting his son in the face during a heated argument. The dispute reportedly stemmed from Nowak's frustration over the frequency of family visits to his Palm Bay home.
According to police affidavits, the argument escalated when Nowak allegedly threatened to shoot his son if he didn't leave the house. Nowak then retrieved a firearm from his bedroom and proceeded to fire it, striking his son in the face. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where the fragmented bullet required medical attention.
Nowak, who is reportedly caring for his wife on hospice and their disabled daughter, was hospitalized for high blood pressure and appeared disoriented after the incident. He has since been booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held without bond, with his arraignment scheduled for early January.
