Florida Man Arrested With Replica Grenades and Black Powder
14 Sep
Summary
- Seven replica military-style grenades were found in the home.
- A container with black powder and a fuse was also discovered.
- The man faces eight felony charges related to explosives possession.

Seven modified, replica military-style hand grenades and a container of black powder with a fuse were found at a Florida residence, leading to the arrest of Keith Morrone, 57. Deputies arrived at the home on Balsam Drive on September 10 to serve a risk protection order for Morrone. The order was issued due to findings that Morrone posed a significant danger to himself or others.
During the search, investigators located a wooden case containing the seven "military style hand grenades," some of which were described as "lemon grenades." Morrone reportedly told investigators he modified the replicas by adding primers to the fusing area. A separate container holding black powder and a fuse, described as a "home-made destructive device," was also found.
Morrone was arrested on eight felony counts of explosives possession. He was released from the St. Lucie County Jail on September 12 on $20,000 bond. Information from a family member indicated Morrone had become increasingly erratic and distrustful, sending messages that included threats.
