Summary
- Human remains were discovered in two suitcases in Palm Bay.
- Lucas Jones, 19, faces second-degree murder charges.
- An Amazon package with Jones' name led police to him.

Authorities discovered human remains inside two abandoned suitcases in a remote area of Palm Bay, Florida, on March 28. The investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Lucas Jones, who now faces a charge of second-degree murder. Initially arrested on charges including tampering with evidence and abuse of a dead human body, Jones was later re-arrested and is held without bond.
The discovery was made in an undeveloped tract of land known as "The Compound" after officers responded to a call and observed vultures circling. One suitcase contained an Amazon package with Jones' name and address, quickly making him a person of interest.
Police executed a search warrant at Jones' home, where they found him with visible injuries. While the victim's identity has not been publicly confirmed, authorities reportedly believe the remains belong to 28-year-old Colie Lee Daniel. Jones' girlfriend told investigators she last saw Daniel unconscious on March 20 at Jones' residence.
