A father in Florida has been arrested and accused of severely abusing his 7-month-old son over several months. Anthony Lamar Hester allegedly shook the infant so violently that it resulted in a near-fatal brain bleed.
The investigation began on February 20 when hospital staff reported the child's injuries. Doctors determined the bleeding on both sides of the brain was consistent with abusive head trauma, prompting an investigation by child protection services.
Two children residing in the home reportedly witnessed Hester shaking the infant multiple times. They also described Hester becoming frustrated and screaming at the child when it cried, telling it that 'boys don't cry.'
Family members informed authorities about Hester's history of anger issues, heavy alcohol use, and domestic violence. Law enforcement records also revealed past incidents involving Hester related to intoxication and erratic behavior.
Hester is currently being held in the Volusia County Jail without bond and is scheduled for arraignment on May 21.
