A former Monroe County Sheriff's deputy, Lamar Eliseo Roman, has been investigated for allegedly misusing police databases to stalk a woman he met while working security on the Apple TV series "Bad Monkey." Footage revealed the detective searched the woman's name, photo, and vehicles.
Investigators also discovered that Roman allegedly placed the woman's license plate on a police "hot list." This action would trigger alerts whenever her vehicle passed a plate reader. The woman reported that Roman also followed her on Instagram shortly after their initial meeting.
Dashcam footage captured Roman speeding after the woman and nearly causing a head-on collision before pulling her over. During questioning, Roman denied initial recognition and admitted he lacked a legal basis for the stop, claiming it was a playful act. He ultimately avoided jail by entering a pretrial intervention program, requiring him to remain trouble-free for two years, complete community service, and attend therapy.
