In December 2021, a violent incident in Stoke-on-Trent culminated in a devastating house fire, leading to severe injuries for a mother and her daughter. Following an altercation on Kildare Street, a group of men targeted a house on Beverley Drive, seeking to confront Naveed Hussain.
They smashed windows, poured petrol, and ignited the premises, resulting in a 31-year-old woman sustaining 65% burns and a 13-year-old girl receiving 15% burns. The mother, initially not expected to survive, suffered critical injuries, including a broken pelvis and ribs, and spent two months in a coma.
Following an 11-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, five men were convicted of serious charges including attempted murder and arson. These convictions add to five other individuals who had previously admitted their involvement in the events. All convicted men have been remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
