These weapons, while not live-firing in their original form, have been identified by the National Crime Agency as easily convertible to shoot live rounds using basic tools, leading to their recent classification as illegal.
West Yorkshire Police are urging anyone in possession of these five specific Bruni BBM models to surrender them. The amnesty period concludes on February 27. Individuals who comply with this deadline will not face prosecution and are not required to provide their personal details, encouraging maximum participation.
This initiative follows a successful amnesty last year for Turkish TVBFs, which resulted in the removal of 3,500 weapons. Police note that criminals have since shifted to other models, hence the focus on these Italian versions. Superintendent Emma Cheney emphasized the force's commitment to disrupting the criminal use and supply of firearms by securing as many of these weapons as possible.
