- Accused obtained bank accounts and SIM cards in names of vulnerable people.

Cantonment police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have dismantled an alleged interstate financial fraud ring. Five individuals were apprehended for their involvement in obtaining bank accounts, SIM cards, and merchant payment systems under the guise of financially disadvantaged people. These accounts were reportedly used to channel illicit transactions.
Authorities seized a significant haul, including an SUV, 23 merchant QR codes, 31 payment sound boxes, mobile phones, SIM cards, and bank documents, totaling Rs 12.4 lakh in value. The arrested individuals, with origins in Rajasthan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, are suspected of exploiting vulnerable individuals through inducements and false promises to acquire their identity documents.
The racket was uncovered on October 13 during night patrols. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Rajasthan-registered SUV, leading to the discovery of a rented flat used for operating the scheme. Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, focusing on tracing the money flow and identifying any other individuals connected to this network.
