The FBI has released an updated description of a suspect sought in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie. As of February 13, 2026, investigators are looking for a male, approximately 5'9" to 5'10" tall, with an average build, seen carrying a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. This follows the analysis of doorbell camera footage.
Investigators have received over 13,000 tips since February 1, 2026, and have increased the reward to $100,000 for information leading to Ms. Guthrie's location or the arrest and conviction of those involved. Earlier surveillance footage showed a person in a ski mask, gloves, and a backpack, with a firearm visible at the waist.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, 2026, when she was dropped off at her Tucson home. She was reported missing the following day. The Pima County Sheriff's Department is treating the case as a possible kidnapping or abduction. Initial reports of a ransom note have not been directly confirmed by authorities.
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have directly appealed to the suspected kidnappers through social media videos, acknowledging a message and pleading for their mother's safe return. They have expressed a willingness to pay for her release, stating, "We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her."
Sheriff Chris Nanos has stated that authorities remain hopeful Nancy Guthrie is still alive. He expressed belief in her presence and continued existence, emphasizing the department's commitment to saving her.
