A domestic dispute turned violent in Bengaluru's Banashankari area on May 1, resulting in burn injuries to both a father and his son. The incident reportedly began when 19-year-old Mallikarjun took his father Anand Doddamani's bike without permission.
An argument ensued, and Anand, described as a habitual drunkard, allegedly doused his son with petrol. The situation escalated rapidly when flames from a neighbor's roadside cooking fire spread to Mallikarjun. The fire also engulfed Anand, who was partially splashed with petrol.
Neighbors intervened to extinguish the flames. Mallikarjun sustained approximately 40 percent burns, while Anand suffered around 18 percent burns. Both are currently receiving treatment in the burns ward at Victoria Hospital. The police have registered an attempt-to-murder case against Anand and are awaiting his recovery for further action.
