Sean Jefferson has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his five-week-old daughter, Darcy-Leigh Jefferson. The baby tragically died in hospital on March 29, 2022, after sustaining numerous injuries across her body during repeated assaults. Jefferson was handed a minimum term of 22 years for the murder conviction.
Stafford Crown Court heard that Darcy-Leigh suffered a catastrophic brain injury at her home. Investigations revealed she had 47 rib fractures when the fatal injury occurred on March 27, 2022. Prosecutors stated the child was shaken violently or had her head struck against surfaces.
Darcy-Leigh's mother, Amy Clark, received a seven-year prison sentence after being found guilty of causing or allowing her daughter's death. While charges of murder or manslaughter against her were dropped, she was convicted of two counts of causing serious harm to a child.
