A family outing in a Keansburg park on July 20 turned tragic when Paco Moore was fatally shot. Moore, 28, was playing Pokemon Go with his fiancée, their toddler daughter, and other family members when the incident occurred.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots shortly before Moore was struck. His fiancée’s young daughter was reportedly playing nearby and heard her father fall. Moore's fiancée stated she saw him get shot in the neck, but it was ultimately determined to be a headshot.
Authorities are investigating the killing, which happened around 9 p.m. on Carr Avenue, near the park. No arrests have been made. Moore was rushed to Bayshore Medical Center but was pronounced dead.
Moore, a resident of Keansburg, had recently started a new job as an exterminator, in addition to working as a cook. He and his fiancée were expecting their second child, a son, in September. They had recently moved into a new apartment and were described as starting their lives together.
Family members remember Moore for his positive attitude, sense of humor, and gentle nature. He had a history of heroism, having rescued three people during Superstorm Sandy in 2012. His devotion to his daughter was profound; she was described as the love of his life.
