A man has been charged with the murder of his infant son, more than 14 years after the child suffered a severe head injury. Lejunae Wood, 42, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court following his arrest at Heathrow Airport. He is accused of the murder of his son, Leajunne Wood, who died in 2021 at the age of 14.
The incident that caused Leajunne's life-changing injuries occurred in December 2007 when he was just four months old. The Metropolitan Police stated that pathologist reports in 2023 confirmed the child's death resulted from complications stemming from that severe head injury. The father, who is from Wuppertal, Germany, confirmed his identity in court.
The case has now been sent to the Old Bailey for a further hearing. The prosecution detailed that the defendant is accused of the murder of his own child. The arrest at a major airport highlights the international dimension of the investigation into the events from over a decade ago.
