A father in Queens has been arraigned on charges including attempted murder and assault after his 2-year-old son was placed on life support. The child, Maliek Williams, suffered severe head trauma and multiple internal injuries, including a fractured pelvis and liver laceration.
According to the father, Dayvon Morrison, he was intoxicated during the alleged beating, which occurred inside a Manhattan hotel on a Friday night. He stated he woke up to find his son with bruises but did not seek immediate medical care.
Instead of taking the child for help, Morrison allegedly transported him in a stroller to East Harlem. Maliek did not receive medical attention until Monday morning, nearly two days after the assault, when police responded to a 911 call and found the boy with critical injuries.
