A high-speed street race on Interstate 85 last month tragically claimed the life of 17-year-old Alex Rodriguez, who was riding a motorcycle. The incident occurred in north Charlotte on July 25, when Rodriguez was reportedly struck while two vehicles were engaged in a race on the highway.
Authorities have arrested 22-year-old Julia Samantha Henderson in connection with the fatal crash. Jail records indicate she has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond in the Mecklenburg County jail.
According to a warrant, Henderson was driving an Audi S5 and allegedly racing a Mercedes-Benz at speeds exceeding 132 miles per hour at the time of the collision. While the other driver in the Mercedes-Benz has been identified, no charges have been filed against them yet in relation to the deadly street race.
