25 Jun
Summary
- Suspect claims victim sexually assaulted her.
- Prosecutors say victim was stabbed while sleeping.
- Judge denied suspect's bail request.

Kristin Sculley, 22, is charged with the June 1 stabbing death of Bobby Carragher, 28, in Massapequa. Her defense attorney, Dennis Lemke, argued in court that the killing was justified self-defense. Lemke asserted Carragher was Sculley's drug dealer and allegedly gave her a drugged vape, leading to an attempted sexual assault.
Sculley claims she woke up during the assault and grabbed a knife, stabbing Carragher once. Her defense also highlighted her history of drug addiction and her part-time work with autistic children. However, prosecutors presented a different account, alleging Sculley stabbed Carragher in the neck while he slept after an argument and then hid.
Carragher's family was present in court, and his family erupted in applause when the judge denied Sculley's bail request, remanding her into custody. Sculley's family declined to comment as they left the courtroom.
