Summary
- Man arrested on suspicion of murder after deadly house fire.
- Seven-year-old girl and her aunt died in the blaze.
- Suspect faces new charges including GBH and strangulation.

A man arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to a fatal house fire has appeared in court facing separate charges. Jaden Wright, 23, was accused of grievous bodily harm and intentional strangulation, allegedly occurring on August 25. The court heard the complainant was living in a tent during the alleged attack and sustained injuries including a fractured eye socket.
Wright was initially arrested in connection with a house fire in Grangetown, Teesside, which tragically resulted in the deaths of Natalie McDonald, 34, and her seven-year-old niece, Valentina Foster. Four other individuals were injured in the blaze. A 48-year-old woman remains in critical but stable condition, while a 27-year-old man is receiving treatment.
Authorities stated the house remained unstable following the fire, with structural work planned to ensure safety. Wright, who spoke only to confirm his details during the hearing, has been remanded into police custody. He is scheduled to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court again on Wednesday, September 2. No pleas were entered for the current charges.
