DUI Suspect Denied Bond After Fatal Crash

The crash occurred on West Lake Mary Boulevard near Wheelhouse Lane when a vehicle allegedly driven by Redding struck another vehicle.
Investigators report that the driver of the struck vehicle, 42-year-old Danielle Akers, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. A 911 caller reported the suspect had fled the scene.
Minutes later, a disabled vehicle was reported about a mile away. Responding officers found Redding outside the vehicle, described as unaware of his surroundings with bloodshot, glassy eyes. He was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, where a blood sample was obtained. Redding appeared before a judge on Thursday and was denied bond as the investigation continues.
