A sub-inspector from Mohammadabad police station in Farrukhabad district is under investigation for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh. The funds were reportedly channeled through his son's bank account and partially in cash to facilitate the vacating of gram sabha land in Nisai village.
Gram pradhan Geeta Devi lodged a complaint on Monday in Kanpur, presenting evidence of online transfers totaling Rs 1.75 lakh to the sub-inspector's son, Pankaj Chahar. She stated that previous official complaints made on January 12, 2025, and May 14, 2025, to the DM, ADM, and CO failed to resolve the encroachment issue.
Authorities have confirmed the allegations following an investigation. A case has been registered against SI Suresh Chahar under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigative proceedings are ongoing. The officer is accused of colluding with encroachers after receiving the payment.
