Tragedy struck Muradnagar on Sunday afternoon when a dispute over personal address escalated into fatal violence. A 55-year-old farmer lost his life, and at least five others sustained severe injuries during a brutal clash that erupted between two groups.
The incident unfolded around 4:30 PM when a farmer, Rishant, casually greeted his neighbor, Kartik Sharma, by his first name. Sharma allegedly took offense, demanding to be addressed as 'Sonu bhai,' which Rishant's family claims was the catalyst for the ensuing violence.
Rishant's uncle, Devendra Sharma, intervened to de-escalate the situation but was allegedly attacked with swords and knives by Sharma's family members. Multiple injuries to his stomach, face, and shoulder were reported, leaving him unconscious.
DCP (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari confirmed that an FIR has been filed under various sections of the BNS, including murder and rioting. Eight individuals have been identified, and three arrests—Kartik Sharma, Prince, and Soyab—have been made. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused.
