A 60-year-old farmer in Hathras has accused bank officials and others of fraudulently obtaining a Rs 5 lakh loan in his name back in 2016. The farmer, Ram Bhajan, stated he never applied for any loan and learned about it only when a recovery notice arrived recently. He claims the loan application contained forged documents, signatures he did not make, and incorrect personal details, including his wife's name and his children's identities.
Further investigation is underway after police registered an FIR on court orders at Hathras Gate police station. The FIR names bank manager Sangram Singh, field officer Raj Kumar Singh, and three other individuals. The farmer alleged that his agricultural land, used as collateral via fake papers, was valued much lower than the sanctioned loan amount at the time. He asserts that officials conspired to make him liable for repayment of the fraudulent loan.
