The incident, which occurred on Friday, December 12th, involved a vehicle driving past the residence and firing what appeared to be an airsoft gun, causing damage to holiday decorations.
Homeowner Rodgir Cohen and his son Jon Paul were reportedly leaving their home when two women and a man in a sedan drove by. Jon Paul recounted hearing 'Free Palestine' and the N-word, while noting the suspect likely held a gun. Shortly after, the vehicle returned, and the family's dogs began barking, leading them to discover the damage on their surveillance footage.
Police are actively investigating the event as a potential hate crime, noting the festive decorations as a likely motive. The Redlands Police Department has increased patrols in the area and around places of worship. This incident occurred the same weekend as a mass shooting at a Hanukkah event in Australia.
