A Baltimore County woman has received a federal prison sentence of nearly three years for her elaborate scheme of posing as a nurse. Thomasina E. Amponsah, 51, was convicted of aggravated identity theft and making false statements related to healthcare matters.
Court documents reveal Amponsah used stolen nursing licenses and fabricated credentials to gain employment at over 40 medical facilities and a public school between September 2019 and August 2023. During this period, she amassed over $145,000 in wages.
Her fraudulent activities included using stolen identities, submitting fake resumes, and falsifying patient records by failing to administer prescribed medications. Despite being fired by one staffing agency for working unlicensed, she continued to seek employment using false credentials until August 2023.
